Breaking Bad Habits

  • Breaking Bad Habits VOL 1, Issue 3
  • May 23, 2024

Our supper club had another dinner last night where we discussed ‘habits’. Our evening began with members sharing their definitions of both ‘good’ and ‘bad’ habits. Several members had read ‘Atomic Habits’ by James Clear, and so principles from this book were highlighted. Success stories were celebrated with some members expressing how they were able to overcome the impossible and what techniques worked well for them. We discussed similar goals we all had and provided helpful tips to stay on track. Starting small and being consistent were common themes as well as having an accountability partner to help with motivation. Keeping our goals simple and priming ourselves for success by changing our environments was an initial step towards positive change. Parenting and increasing our littles ones’ exposure to spirituality were also discussed and some great resources were shared (please see below).

  • Sikh artists with soothing music (can be incorporated into bedtime routines): Annie Alhuwalia, Taren Kaur (UK)
  • Book suggestions: ‘8 Rules of Love: How to Find It, Keep It, and Let It Go’ by Jay Shetty, ‘Raising Girls Who Like Themselves’ by Kasey Edwards
  • Community involvement: Young Khalsa Girls – organization for Sikh girls to be connected https://www.youngkhalsagirls.com/presidential-service-award

Finally, we celebrated our first birthday at KSC! Happy Birthday Jasneet! We look forward to seeing more of you at our future events.
